These series of images capture the design of Airtel's Chalet at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona in 2012.
The brief was to make the brand, so far known as a serious mobility player into a more youthul and colourful one. The client also wanted some 'wow' factor to greet the viewer as he stepped into this space.

The outsides of the chalet were decorated with images of young people from Asia and Africa, which is airtel's core target. These were combined with keywords from the brand identity guidelines, which stood for al the brand does. The colour palette, for the first time, made use of airtel's secondary colours to create something light and vibrant amongst a sea of serious and heavy designs.

The look was carried to all the outside facia.

As soon as a visitor stepped into the chalet, he was greeted by the sight of these colourful keywords splashed across the height. A Reception desk to the left and a waiting lounge to the right, complete with a corporate AV greeted him.

This large design was actually an anamorphic one: the words were splashed across many facets, not just one. As the visitor walked through the space, he saw the words breaking up and forming interesting continuous patterns, which formed an interesting graphic look in keeping with the youthful energy of the place. The decor was kept at a minimal red and white to make sure the graphics grabbed maximum attention.

The walls bore graphics which captured airtel's areas of operation across the world, not just as a mobility giant, but also as an enabler.

This wall captured what airtel means to a youth of today: how his entire life revolves around his phone, and how we are the centre of it all.

Each of the keywords were illustrated on the walls inside the meeting rooms at the chalet. Here the colour scheme was primarily red, to offset the sparseness of the outside.

A large interactive screen was set up along one of the main walls inside the chalet. This worked as a quick guide to all of airtel's operations for visitors. The UI design took forward the look from the physical space onto the virtual one.

The following year, airtel's stall was inside a large hall. Produced by Mayridge, the stall design itself took inspiration from the logo.

The brief for the interiors was to carry forward the 'pixelated' look from the 4G launch, which was the biggest news that year. On the ground floor of the stall, the look was directly carried over.

On the first floor, the look was extended through a grid of rounded squares which bore stories over different wall panels.

This panel, for example, illsutrated airtel's association with ManU, and how airtel is more than just a service provider, it is an enricher, and enabler.

The design extended even to the furniture at the stall. This table, for example, had a large backlit airtel logo on the underside of the table, which added an interesting layer to the ambience at the stall.
